“When Hell Invades – Pt. 2 Revelation 9:1-12

February 27, 2022 / Revelation Revelation 9:1-12:

Most of us have carelessly and thoughtlessly tossed out one particular statement when we are hurt, angry or disappointed.  We don’t really mean it when we say it.  More times than not, it’s just a way of expressing strong feelings or emotions or situations we find ourselves in that we are not happy about and just wish were different.

There is coming a Day when many will say ” I wish I could die” and they WILL mean it.  There is coming a time that will bring so much pain, hurt, discouragement, depression, fear and so many other emotions that many will seek to end their life.  Many will seek death to end all of their pain and suffering but will not find it.

When is such a time coming?  What will it look like?  What could be so terrible that millions will seek death?  In Revelation 9:1-12, the 5th angel will sound the trumpet which brings another round of God’s Judgement on the lost.

Satan is given the key to open up the depths of hell that will converge on planet earth bring pain and suffering like no one has or will ever experience.  The time period is known as the Great Tribulation.

Satan will unleash the pits of hell while releasing the most vile, wicked and hellish demons who will bring pain and suffering on all who do not have the mark of God on them.

One survey by Barna discovered that only 27% of professing Christians believe that Satan is real (Baptist Press 8-14-01).  Yes Jesus believed and taught their existence.  Jesus had personal contact with them.

Satan is their leader who oversees the abyss:  The Hebrew word – Abaddon which means destruction.  In the Greek language, he is known as Apollyon which means destroyer.

The demons are released to do nothing other than bring harm, pain and suffering on those who have rejected Jesus Christ.  Their mission is to torment as many people as they can without hesitation (9:3-6).

Believer who have the seal of God on their foreheads will not be touched by these wicked spirits (7:2).

In our text today, we find a number of attributes that define the character and purpose of these hellish demons.

  1.  They are   Spirits (vs. 1)
  2.  They are    Spirits    (vs. 2)
  3.  They are  Spirits (vs. 3-4)
  4.  They are  Spirits (vs. 5-6)
  5.  They are     Spirits (vs. 7)
  6.  They are Spirits (vs. 7)
  7.   They are Spirits (vs. 7)
  8.   They are Spirits (vs. 8)
  9.   They are Spirits (vs. 9)
  10.   They are   Spirits (vs. 10)
  11.   They are  Spirits (vs. 11-12)

This period of time known as the Great Tribulation IS coming one day.  If you know Jesus Christ as your Personal Lord and Savior, you have nothing to sweat!  The Bible tells us that the Church is taken up and out to be with God before this hellish period begins.

If you don’t have a personal relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ, now is the time to do so.  There is no magical formula or prayer that will make one right with God.

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life.  No one comes unto the Father except by (through) me.” (John 14:6)

My friend, it’s not about what you can “DO” to make you right with God, but rather a relationship with His Son Jesus!

The bible tells us if we will call upon Jesus … the Way-maker and entrust our lives to Him, He will bring us into a relationship with God that can never fade away.

Why would anyone want to wait until it’s too late to trust Jesus!

Won’t you do that today?
