SERMON SERIES: JESUS KING

MESSAGE 11: WHY IS JESUS ON A COLT?

LOMBARD BIBLE CHURCH

OCTOBER 17, 2021

MARK 11:1-11

  1. What’s the best parade you’ve ever been to? What made it so great?
  2. The week before Jesus’ death, Jesus becomes the central focus of a parade into Jerusalem during one of their biggest festivals: Passover. Read Mark 11:1-11. What’s your takeaway from the Scripture or what questions do you have?
  3. This story can seem confusing without understanding Jewish historical & biblical context. Have 3 readers read 1 Kings 1:32-37; 2 Kings 9:12-13; and finally Zechariah 9:9-11. With those 3 Scriptures in mind, why do you think Jesus intentionally entered Jerusalem riding on an unridden colt?
  4. What does “the way Jesus entered Jerusalem” teach us about God?
  5. What response does this Scripture and our discussion tonight compel you to do?
  6. Get in groups of 3-4 and pray for one another.
