DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. What’s the best marriage advice you ever heard?
  2. Paul talks about “the Jesus way” to do marriage in Ephesians 5:21-33. Read the Scripture and each person share 1 thing you learned or 1 question you have.
  3. In Ephesians 5:22, wives are told to “submit” to their husbands, but what does that mean? Peter helps with that answer when he shows us that Jesus is a great example of submission for how wives are to submit to their husbands. Read 1 Peter 2:21-3:6. How did Jesus submit? What then does it mean for wives to submit to their husbands?
  4. In Ephesians 5:25 husbands are told to “love” their wives, but what does that mean? Paul helps with that answer when he shows us that Jesus is a great example of love for how husbands are to love their wives. Read Ephesians 5:28-30. How did Jesus love? What then does it mean for husbands to love their wives?
  5. In the midst of a talk to husbands & wives, Paul talks a lot about the character of Jesus & His relationship with the church. Read Ephesians 5:23-32, this time looking for: what do we learn about Jesus & His relationship with the church? List out as much as you can find. Do you usually think of Jesus the way He is portrayed in this Scripture passage? Why/why not?
  6. If Ephesians 5:21-33 is true, how will you live differently?
  7. If there are couples, get together with your spouse and ask, “How can I pray for you?” Otherwise pair off 1-on-1 to do the same.
