COUNTER CULTURE Part 3: DANIEL’S KEYS TO EFFECTIVE CONFRONTATION

June 6, 2021   /   Living Word Family Church

How can we live strong in our faith in a culture of compromise?

If you take on a name that God hasn’t given you, you will miss the life God has for you.

There is a battle for your worship.

Daniel 4:4-5

“I, Nebuchadnezzar, was living in my palace in comfort and prosperity.

But one night I had a dream that frightened me; I saw visions that terrified me as I lay in my bed.”

RELATIONSHIP is the context for confrontation.

“Rules without relationship leads to rebellion. Truth without relationship leads to rejection.”

-Josh McDowell

RELATIONSHIP is the context for confrontation.

Question: Have I invested in a relationship with the person I am confronting?

RESTORATION should be the goal of confrontation.

RESTORATION should be the goal of confrontation.

Question: Am I confronting to be right or restoration?

Daniel 4:19

At first Daniel, who had been renamed Belteshazzar in Babylon was upset. Belteshazzar replied, “I wish the events foreshadowed in this dream would happen to your enemies, my lord, and not to you!”

HUMILITY is the posture of effective confrontation.

Galatians 6:1

Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.

HUMILITY is the posture of effective confrontation.

Question: Am I confronting with a heart of pride or humility?

Daniel 4:26-27

The command to leave the stump of the tree with its roots means that your kingdom will be restored to you when you acknowledge that Heaven rules. Therefore, Your Majesty, be pleased to accept my advice: Renounce your sins by doing what is right, and your wickedness by being kind to the oppressed. It may be that then your prosperity will continue.

HOPE has to be given for confrontation to sink in.

HOPE has to be given for confrontation to sink in.

Question: Am I confronting to provide hope or humiliation?

RELATIONSHIP is the context for confrontation.

RESTORATION should be the goal of confrontation.

HUMILITY is the posture of effective confrontation.

HOPE has to be given for confrontation to sink in.

Daniel 4:37

“Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and glorify and honor the King of heaven. All his acts are just and true, and he is able to humble the proud.”

If your goal is RESTORATION, you’ll always confront with HUMILITY and HOPE.
