Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. THE LIE – WEAR YOUR “SUNDAY BEST” TO CHURCH.

DOES GOD EVEN CARE WHAT I WEAR?

• In a word – !
• What we wear should reflect a that is following God.

And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes. For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do. 1 Timothy 2:9-10 (NLT) page 2052

WHAT’S WRONG WITH DRESSING UP TO GO TO CHURCH?

• if it reflects who you are and why you’re here.
• if it fosters a false sense of reverence for God.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. Matthew 23:27-28 (NKJV) page 1640

• if you use appearance as a standard to judge others.
• God doesn’t by our standards.

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t look at how handsome Eliab is or how tall he is, because I have not chosen him. God does not see the same way people see. People look at the outside of a person, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 (NCV) page 463

THE CHURCH’S GROWTH HINGES ON BEING OPEN TO ALL.

• This was a problem the battled.
• A powerful statement – “To the first but also to the ”.
• We have to go in at the same time.

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8 (NKJV) page 1931
