Series: They Lied To Me About Church

Part 1 – “The Bible Is The Foundation”

THE LIES – DON’T EVER CHANGE AND DO WHAT YOU FEEL LED TO DO.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “This is the land I promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said to them, ‘I will give this land to your descendants.’ I have let you look at it, Moses, but you will not cross over there.” Deuteronomy 34:4 (NCV) page 330

GOD CANNOT CHANGED BUT CAN CHANGE.

  • God is – can’t be changed from the outside.
  • But God is also – does what He wants.
  • When we see God at work in our lives it on us.

And the Lord said to Moses, “Go on before the people, and take with you some of the elders of Israel. Also take in your hand your rod with which you struck the river, and go. Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.”

Exodus 17:5-6 (NKJV) page 123

  • What God does at one time may not fulfill His in another time. (example – speaking in tongues on Pentecost)
  • We often forget the of why we are doing something for God. (example – Lord’s Supper cloth)

GOD SPEAKS BUT WE HEAR .

Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water; thus you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and give drink to the congregation and their animals.” So Moses took the rod from before the Lord as He commanded him. And Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock; and he said to them, “Hear now, you rebels! Must we bring water for you out of this rock?” Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank.

Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.” Numbers 20:7-12 (NKJV) page 245

  • We become by our own struggles. (wife died and complaints)
  • We can easily be swayed by our .
  • We can easily feel “” in our direction.
  • When we make the wrong choice, there are .

SO HOW DO I KNOW WHEN TO CHANGE AND WHEN GOD IS TRULY LEADING ME?

  • When what I’m lines up with his revealed Word.
  • When what I’m lines up with his revealed Word.
  • Moses had the same problem we do – God!
