God answers your prayer requests in several ways

Yes, but be careful

In those days Hezekiah became mortally ill. …Then he … prayed to the Lord, saying, “Remember now, O Lord, … how I have walked before You in truth and with a whole heart and have done what is good in Your sight.” …Before Isaiah had gone … the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “Return and say to Hezekiah …, ‘Thus says the Lord, … “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; behold, I will heal you. … I will add fifteen years to your life, …

2 Kings 20:1-7

No, outside God’s will.

Christ sent messengers on ahead of Himself, and they went and entered a village of the Samaritans to make arrangements for Him. But they did not receive Him, because He was traveling toward Jerusalem. When His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them?” But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what kind of spirit you are of; for the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.” And they went on to another village.

Luke 9:52-56

Wait, God answers when it glories Him the most.

Exodus 4-14

You change your prayer

And Jesus went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.” And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour? Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” He went away again a second time and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it (the Passion events), Your will be done.”

Matthew 26:39-42

You change your character

knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. … The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power.

James 1: 3,4; 5:16

You get something better

1 Samuel 1,2

You take another look

Now when the attendant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was circling the city. And his servant said to Elisha, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” And the Lord opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

2 Kings 6:15-17

The mystery of God

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,

Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,

So are My ways higher than your ways

And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55: 8, 9
