QUESTIONS JESUS ASKED – DO YOU WANT TO BE MADE WELL?

“When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?”

John 5:6

PEOPLE CHANGE IN FOUR DIFFERENT SEASONS

  • When they they have to.
  • When they they’re inspired to.
  • When they they want to.
  • When they they’re able to.

“You’re not smart because of what you know…. You’re smart because of the questions you ask.” (John Maxwell)

6 QUESTIONS WE NEED TO ASK (a case study from John 5)

  1. Am I prepared to be brutally HONEST with myself?

“Crowds of sick people—blind, lame, or paralyzed—lay on the porches.”

John 5:3

“Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

John 8:31-32

2. Am I prepared to CHANGE?

“One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years.”

John 5:5

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

Romans 12:2

3. Am I prepared to let go of my EXCUSES?

“I can’t, sir,” the sick man said, “for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me.”

John 5:7

4. Am I prepared for the supernatural POWER OF GOD to be released in my life?

“Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk! Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking! But this miracle happened on the Sabbath.”

John 5:8-9

5. Am I prepared to look past the mat to the MIRACLE?

“So the Jewish leaders objected. They said to the man who was cured, “You can’t work on the Sabbath! The law doesn’t allow you to carry that sleeping mat!” But he replied, “The man who healed me told me, ‘Pick up your mat and walk. Who said such a thing as that?” they demanded.”

John 5:10-12

6. Am I prepared to LIVE OUT MY FAITH?

“The man didn’t know, for Jesus had disappeared into the crowd. But afterward Jesus found him in the Temple and told him, “Now you are well; so stop sinning, or something even worse may happen to you. Then the man went and told the Jewish leaders that it was Jesus who had healed him.”

John 5:13-15
