The Process Spiritual Growth

  1. The Goal Of Spiritual Growth Is (2 Cor 3:18; Rom 8:28-29).
    1. To be Christlike means to reflect His and His . Examples of characteristics of Christlikeness we should be developing as believers:
      1. To be growing in the & & in (Col 1:9-10)
      2. To be growing in (I Peter 1:15-16)
      3. To be growing in (I John 3:16-18, 4:7)
  2. Spiritual Growth Occurs , and in .
    1. Jesus His through specific phases of spiritual growth and commanded the church to the pattern (Matthew 28:18-20, esp. verse 20).
      • Phase I:
      • Phase II: Phase (learning who Christ is & how to follow Him)
      • Phases IV & V: Phases
    2. A believer’s personal relationship with Christ is to his spiritual growth. As the believer gets to Christ better, he will spiritually.
  3. With His Disciples, Jesus Used Situations To Spiritual Growth.
    1. God uses , good and bad, to cause us to in Christ (Romans 8:28).
      1. & produce spiritual maturity. (Jas 1:2-4; Rom 5:3-4).
      2. God difficulties in Jesus’ life to mature Him (Luke 2:52; Heb 5:8-9).
    2. One of the goals of spiritual growth is to to Christ in areas of life.
      1. God uses our which require us to trust Him.
      2. Jesus used challenging situations to produce growth in the disciples .
        1. He involved them with hostile crowds (John 8:57-59).
        2. He asked them to do the impossible (feeding the 5k – John 6:5-14).

The believer’s primary concern should be that he sees clear progress in his growth to maturity (Philippians 3:12-14).
