2 KEY POINTS TO OUR ATTITUDES TOWARD GIFTS.

  1. Using Gifts Indicate A Lack Of For The Giver.
  • Samson impulsively used the special gift God gave him for selfish purposes. Today, God distributes abilities and skills throughout the church (1 Corinthians 12:1ff.). The apostle Paul states that these gifts are to be used “to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12). To use these abilities for selfish purposes is to rob the church and fellow believers of strength. As you use the gifts God has given you, be sure you are helping others, not just yourself.

They entered the house where the child and his mother, Mary, were, and they fell down before him and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. (Matthew 2:11)

  1. Gifts Must Be Accompanied By A Right .
  • The magi brought gifts and worshiped Jesus for who he was. This is the essence of true worship-honoring Christ for who he is and being willing to give him what is valuable to you. Worship God because he is the perfect, just, and almighty Creator of the universe, worthy of the best you have to give.

The crowd was listening to everything Jesus said. And because he was nearing Jerusalem, he told a story to correct the impression that the Kingdom of God would begin right away. (Luke 19:11)

IN GENERAL, IN SCRIPTURE THE WORD “GIFT” HAS 3 SENSES:

  1. Gifts Men Give To Men
  2. Sacrificial Offerings Presented To God.
  3. Gifts God Gives To Men – Especially In Connection With Salvation, Righteousness And His Grace.
