Introduction:

The creation of the world is a testament of God’s love, creativity, presence, intelligence and provision. The world around us points to the glory of God and ultimately the love He has for each of us. Through the creation account mankind is given a window to better understand and enjoy the Creator. The opening chapters of the greatest book ever written, the Bible, are not simply a prelude to the writings of wise men, prophets, kings and mighty warriors of God; these chapters give us a glimpse of what was and what is to come. It shows us how to navigate the world we find ourselves in today. This account reveals the singular greatest intention God had for us at the point of creation, that we would have an eternal, blessed and perfected relationship with Him.

1. God desires

Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us.”

Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” Genesis 1:26a, 2:18

2. God desires us to have

In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church. And we are members of his body. Ephesians 5:28-30

3. God desires us to have

Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The LORD Our God is the one and only LORD. And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.” Mark 12:29-31

True Relationship can only be found in

Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love – not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.

1 John 4:7-11

Closing: God knew about you before the foundation of the earth, He is intimately aware of every part of you and wants a relationship with you. We

For You created my innermost parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, because I am awesomely and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in secret, and skillfully formed in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my formless substance; and in Your book were written all the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them. (NASB) Psalm 139:13-16
