“Out of The Easter Came Forth Meat!”
Lesson 9 of 13

Introduction:  When Sampson journeyed to Timnath and a young lion attacked him, God enabled him to tear the lion to pieces.  Later, the bees swarmed on the carcass of that lion and produced honey.  Samson took handfuls of honey from that lion that had sought to devour him.  “Out of the eater came for the meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness.”  We find a wonderful truth in Samson’s riddle.

Bible Background Reading:

Judges 2:10; Judges 13:1-2; Numbers 6:18; Judges 14:3-14; Genesis 45:4-5; Philippians 1:8-12; Matthew 11:28

Preparation Questions:

Day 1:   From Judges 13:1-2, at the time of Samson the children of Israel were oppressed by whom?

Day 2:   Read Numbers 6:1-8 and list the distinguishing marks of someone who had to take a Nazirite vow.

Day 3:   In Judges 14:5-6, how did Samson kill the lion that roared against him?

Day 4:   Read Judges 14:14.  What was Samson’s riddle, and what did it refer to?

Day 5:  According to Philippians 1:8-12, how had God brought good out of all of Paul’s sufferings?

Day 6:   From Judges 14:8-9, what did Samson do with the honey taken from the Lion?

Lesson Aims:

  • To realize that the Devil seeks to destroy anyone that God desires to bless and use.
  • To see that God can use the most difficult things in life to nourish our souls and to bring glory to Himself.
  • To recognize that God cannot use us in a mighty way until our hearts have been broken.
  • To learn in the midst of suffering that the Lord Jesus is all-sufficient.
  • To know the sweetness of the Lord Jesus and to show others that He can help; them in their time of need.

Scripture Memory:

Judges 14:14
