“The Faith of Enoch!”
Lesson 2 of 13
Introduction: The Bible is God’s true record. This biographical sketch in the Bible says that Enoch walked with God. No doubt, he heard wonderful things about creation, about God, and about what happened to the human race. Then one day, at age 365, he was walking with God, and God translated him to heaven. Enoch represents for us an entire generation of believers who are going to be living on this earth, and then, suddenly, they are going to disappear and be caught up to meet God at the coming of the Savior.
Bible Background Reading:
Hebrews 11:1-6; Genesis 4:25-26; Genesis 5:5-24; I Corinthians 15:51-57; Romans 14:23; Amos 3:3; Ephesians 2:1-10; Colossians 1:13; John 5:24; Romans 5:19, 6:9-10; John 11:25; Jude 14-15.
Day 1: Read Genesis 5:21-24. What miraculous event took place in Enoch’s life? What future event does this picture (I Corinthians 15:51-57)?
Day 2: According to Hebrews 11:5, what testimony did Enoch have?
Day 3: From Hebrew 11:6, what is essential in order to please God?
Day 4: How does the truth given in Amos 3:3 help us to understand how we are to walk with God?
Day 5: Compare Hebrews 11:5 and Colossians 1:13. What translation has taken place in the life of every believer?
Day 6: According to Jude 14-15, what did Enoch prophesy about to his generation?
- To be reminded that we, as believers, have a glorious future awaiting us in heaven in the presence of Jesus Christ.
- To understand that we cannot please God unless we are exercising faith in God.
- To see that by faith in Christ we have been translated from the kingdom of death and darkness into God’s kingdom of light and life.
- To realize that this wicked world is headed for judgment, and to warn others that safety is only found in Jesus Christ.
–When we have faith in God and God’s Word, then things that this world cannot see become real to us.
I. ENOCH PLEASED GOD!
–We cannot please God apart from placing faith in God.
II. ENOCH PASSED OVER!
Hebrews 11:5; Colossians 1:13; John 5:24
–Death holds not threat and no dominion over us.
III. ENOCH PROPHESIED TO HIS GENERATION!
–The only safety from coming destruction is the Lord Jesus Christ.
