VIRTUAL BIBLE SERIES

Led by Pastor Shane
“He Leadeth Me!”
Lesson 5 of 13

Introduction: Do you know a Christian who is not really satisfied in life?  Many of God’s sheep are not living satisfied lives because they are not willing to follow the Shepherd.  In this lesson, we will look to God’s Word and find wonderful promises for those who will allow the Lord Jesus to be their guide.  When we follow Him, He will lead us to cool, clear waters that satisfy our thirsty souls.

Bible Background Reading:

Psalm 23; Isaiah 58:11; John 16:7-13; I Timothy 3:1-5, 5:17; John 7:37; John 4:14-26; Jeremiah 2:13

Preparation Questions:

Day 1:   From Isaiah 58:11, list three results of the Lord’s continual guidance.  Is this a description of your life?

Day 2:   According to John 16:13, what is one advantage that would come to the Lord Jesus’ followers as a result of the coming Holy Spirit?

Day 3:  Compare I Timothy 3:4-5 with I Timothy 5:17.  Find the common word that is used to describe one of the pastor’s duties.  What do you think this means?

Day 4:  Read John 7:37 and explain why “thirst” is a blessing and a gift from God.

Day 5: According to John 4:14, what must we do in order to “never thirst” again?  Have you done this?

Day 6:  List the “two evils” committed by God’s people in Jeremiah 2:13.  How do people commit the same today?

Lesson Aims:

  • To realize that we will only be happy as we submit to the leading of God in our lives.
  • To understand that we can find true satisfaction in Jesus Christ alone.

Lesson Notes:

I. OUR SUBMISSION TO THE SHEPHERD!

Isaiah 58:11; John 16:7-13; I Timothy 3:1-5; I Timothy 5:17

–The secret to growing in the Christian life is yielding to the Shepherd.

Happiness is a by-product of obedience.  We will only be happy as we submit to the Lord.

II. OUR SUPPLY FROM THE SHEPHERD!

John 7:37

–When we submit to the Shepherd and allow Him to lead, everything else is settled.

–The water we need for life, for spiritual existence, comes from believing Christ!

III. OUR SATISFACTION FROM THE SHEPHERD!

Jeremiah 2:13

–For every cool clear drink God has for us, the Devil rushes up with something else to try to satisfy us.
