Week 03: Noseblind

(Proverbs 39:18 KJV)
Where there is no vision, the people perish …

(Ephesian 4:1 NLT)
Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.

Everybody ends up somewhere, but few people end up somewhere on purpose

Definition:  Noseblindness
a temporary, naturally occurring adaptation of your body that leads to an inability to detect or distinguish common scents in your surroundings.

Blindspots — disconnect between the way we see ourselves and the way people experience us.

  Wrong

(James 4:1-2)
What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.

(James 1:26)
Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.

  Wrong

(Romans 12:3 Message)
“The only accurate way to understand ourselves is by what God is and by what he does for us, not by what we are and what we do for him.”

  Wrong view of

(Romans 6:1-2)
What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?

1. Pray — ask for clarity

(Psalm 139:1-4; 23-24)
You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. 2  You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely … 23 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

2. Confide — ask a friend

 (Proverbs 27:25-26)
Better is open rebuke than hidden love. 6 Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.

3. Confess

(James 5:16)
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.

4. Make a move toward change.

What one decision can I make today?

Everybody ends up somewhere, but few people end up somewhere on purpose
