God chooses to use friends in our lives.

We are who we spend time with.

4 Types of People

1. VDP = very draining people

Luke 11:53 As Jesus was leaving, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees became hostile and tried to provoke him with many questions.

Prov 13:20 Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.

CLARIFYING QUESTIONS

• Who slumps your shoulders when you see them?
• Whose call don’t you want to answer?
• Who sees the glass half empty?
• Who always puts their own interests first?

2. VNP = very neutral people

Matt 8:18 When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he instructed his disciples to cross to the other side of the lake.

The crowds aren’t what make our lives great.

CLARIFYING QUESTIONS

• Who around me isn’t affecting me?
• Who in my life is there because of history?
• Who has a life that it is at a standstill?
• Who has a presence in my life but isn’t a gift to my life?

3. VEP = very energizing people

Matt 16:17-18 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being. Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.

Friendships in your life will dictate the fruitfulness in your life.

CLARIFYING QUESTIONS

• Who would you want to vacation with?
• Who is interested in talking about you?
• Who knows how to be a blessing?

4. VIP = very important people

Matt 16:22-23 But Peter took him aside and began to reprimand him for saying such things. “Heaven forbid, Lord,” he said. “This will never happen to you!” Jesus turned to Peter and said, “Get away from me, Satan! You are a dangerous trap to me. You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s.”

CLARIFYING QUESTIONS

• Who are the people in your life who without them you wouldn’t be where you are?
• Who has sacrificed for you to make sure you are taken care of?
• Who do you turn to that always has the right counsel for you?
