INFLUENCER WEEK 2

September 2, 2020

Message Outline/Talk:
Message Title: Even Online

Big Idea: Love people through your screen as if you were standing face to face with them.

Understanding of Biblical Love:

  1. Love originates from God. God is Love. We love because he first loved us.
  2. 1 Corinthians 13.4-7

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. (NLT)

The hang up: At times, we tend to separate our online selves from our physical selves.

6 WAYS WE SHOW COMPLETE LOVE: 1 John 4.9-21

2. Be willing to something up.

1 John 4.9-10

God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. 10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

2. Live God’s love.

1 John 4.11-12

11 Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. 12 No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.

3. Grow in a with Jesus.

1 John 4.13-16

13 And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us. 14 Furthermore, we have seen with our own eyes and now testify that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God. 16 We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love.

4. Continually become .

1 John 4.16-17

God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. 17 And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.

5. Be .

1 John 4.18-19

18 Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. 19 We love each other[b] because he loved us first.

6. Love people.

1 John 4.20-21

20 If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a fellow believer,[c] that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see? 21 And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers.

Discussion Questions:

  1. How was school this past week? The first day? Different. Weird. Annoying. What are thoughts?
  2. Each of us spend time looking at our screens, what would you say gets most of your attention when your on you phone?
  3. This past week Pastor Blake challenged us to post about God daily and to encourage someone consistently. How’d you do with that challenge?
  4. Look up 1 John 4.18-19 on a phone. Read it as a group. Share your thoughts. What stands out to you in this verse.

18 Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. 19 We love each other[b] because he loved us first.
