Pray Specifically and Pray Now

Pursuing Prayer, Part 4

Main Idea: God deserves to be first. Pursuing prayer first reveals our respect for the king because he knows we trust Him enough to put him first.

Prayer is the divinely authorized methodology to access heavenly authority for earthly intervention.

I Chronicles 14:2

I Chronicles 14:8-10 ESV

1. Going is never a good idea, stop and ask God for direction.

  • If you need precise direction pray precise prayers.
  • Asking precise prayers should happen on the front end.
  • Precise prayers need to be spoken to God before we inquire of others.

2. Praying with is a critical component to answered prayer.

Luke 18:1-6 ESV

  • The judge intervened based on the persistence of the widow.
  • Persistent prayer calls God’s righteous reputation into account.
  • There are specific rights you have based on your relationship with Christ and His authority.

3. God is able but you must be

Ephesians 3:20-21

Daniel 3:15-17 ESV

These three young men knew that God could deliver them.

  • God doesn’t always deliver you from…

Matthew 9:28

Hebrews 7:25

  • The people of God will take action because they know that God is able.

4. God works in the power in our lives according to the power that is us.

Ephesians 3:20-21

  • You have to connect with the Christ as He dwells within you to access what God is able to do.
  • God looks at the power within before he determines the action without.

The goal of the spirit within you is to open every room of your life to him.

Pursing prayer increases the capacity to access the overflowing power of God.
