Powerful Personal Prayer
August 29, 2021 / Jared Douglas / First Red Oak“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24
On a Consistent Basis We Need to Ask God to:
1. Search and Know My Heart.
“Search me, God, and know my heart” Psalm 139:23
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” Jeremiah 17:9
2. Reveal My Worries and Fears.
“test me and know my anxious thoughts….” Psalm 139:23
What we worry about and fear the most reveals where we trust God the least.
“Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving; let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” II Timothy 1:7
3. Show Me My Sins.
“See if there is any offensive way in me.” Psalm 139:24
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
I John 1:9
4. Lead Me in the Way Everlasting.
“lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:24
