Defeating the Giant of Loneliness

4 things that can help defeat the giant of loneliness.

1. Remember that you are never alone.

“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.” Psalm 139:7-10

“…Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you…” Isaiah 43:1b-2a

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

2. Remember your identity in Christ.

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1

  • You are freed!

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? … No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Romans 8:35; 37

  • You are victorious!

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

  • You are loved unconditionally!

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” Ephesians 1:7

  • You are redeemed!

“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”           Philippians 1:6

You are not forgotten!

  1. Remember that you belong to a body.

“For just as in one body we have many members, and not all the members serve the same function, so we who are many are one body in Christ, and individually we are members who belong to one another.”   Romans 12:4-5

“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.” Ephesians 2:19

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7

4. Remember your role in the body.

“And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.”        1 Corinthians 12:26

“Carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2

  • Reach out to those around you.
  • Don’t stay on the surface.
  • Pray for one another.
