Choosing Joy – Phil. 1:1-11

September 12, 2021   /   Jared Douglas   /   First Red Oak

Real biblical joy is an internal gladness and delight we have;
 in spite of the external situations and circumstances we face.

We Choose Joy When:

1. We Remember the Good in Life.

I thank my God every time I remember you.  In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.”  Philippians 1:3-5

“The crowd joined in the attack against Paul and Silas, and the magistrates ordered them to be stripped and beaten with rods. After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer was commanded to guard them carefully. When he received these orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks.”
Acts 16:22-24

 2. We Remember God is Always in Control.

“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
 Philippians 1:6

Make Faithfulness our Goal in life.

“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.”     Philippians 1:9-11
