Discussion questions:
- What’s the last book you read? How was it?
- The Bible is no ordinary book. Listening to the words of Scripture is like nothing else. Read Luke 10:38-42. Go around the room: what’s one takeaway or question you have from this passage?
- In Luke 10:42, Jesus says that Mary–listening to His Words–has chosen what is needed. Do you view listening to God’s Word as a need in your life? Why/why not?
- In Luke 10:42, Jesus says that Mary–listening to His Words–has chosen what is better. How is the Bible’s Word better than the words we hear from others or ourselves?
- In Luke 10:42, Jesus says that Mary–listening to His Words–has something which will never be taken away. What are things in your life that haven’t lasted? Why do you think God’s Word has continued to minister to people for thousands of years?
- Partner up: share your Bible reading plan with your partner & answer the following questions: (1) Are you getting your spiritual need for the Bible fulfilled by listening to its words which you find better than other words? Explain. (2) Do you see the Bible as making long-lasting change in your life? Explain. If either answer is no, brainstorm together how you can improve or change the way you read His Word.
- Pray for each other.
