Jesus’ Prayer: Our Father in Heaven

September 27, 2020

Jesus’ Prayer: “Our Father in Heaven”

                                                                    Matt 6:9-13

This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’   Matt 6:9-13  NIV

We’ve focused on Scriptural messages that are relevant during these challenging times

Jesus’ prayer is another anchor we can hold onto to see us through any storm

The Lord’s Prayer is foundational

Apostle’s Creed – what we believe

Ten Commandments – how we behave

Jesus’ Prayer –   how we are to pray

We know it too well – we understand it too little

  1. A simple prayer

  1. A profound prayer

Jesus wants us to know: “Our Father in Heaven”

  1. We do not pray alone

  1. Jesus provides a special relationship with God

“Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” Mark 14:36 (NIV)

So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” Romans 8:15 (NLT2)

  1. We have a heavenly Father who loves us

Jesus wants us to know we have a heavenly Father who loves us!
