The Power Of _______.

Paul writing this letter to the followers in Philippi:

“I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back. So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it.” Philippians 3:12-16 MSG

“Focus on what really matters. Not to you but to me.”

a. 

In life we at times reach out to the world or just not God first and we are simply seeing through the wrong lens. Focus on seeing the world through Gods lens and not your own  

b.  

In the midst of the chaos and all of the noise, what do you hear? Whose voice are you listening to?

What did you hear?“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.” Matthew 6:34 MSG

Jesus is saying here I will give you the promise but first let me give you the instruction.

“Your words are so powerful that they will kill or give life, and the talkative person will reap the consequences.” Proverbs 18:21 TPT

Too many times we get caught up in our own opinions and none of that matters it’s not GODS facts.

“For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” Hebrews 4:12 NLT

I don’t know about you but I want to make sure my words align with His, but even my innermost thoughts and desires.

Sometimes our thoughts are more powerful than our words. Why? Because our thoughts determine our actions.

And how do we do that? Do we just say thoughts think correctly? No, we go back to the word of God, we look at the promises through the instructions of the word of God.

“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV

And how do we do THAT?

“pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 
1 Thessalonians 5:17-18

You know Berenice and I are very big on this, we love to pray and worship, and KNOW the power of it. I can honestly say that’s why we love to worship so much here and why moments in worship on Sunday Mornings or the worship nights can go so long because we love to worship Him. But we also love to see our circumstances change in the presence of God, which is an act of surrender as we worship in song and lyrics (and even new songs).

What if you don’t have anything to be grateful for? Well, are you breathing right now? Are you sitting next to your family? Do you have a home? SOMETHING in your life is worthy of giving thanks for. God created you , that’s worthy of our gratefulness alone! We are called, and we are chosen!

THATS why we worship, not for ourselves, not for our pride, not because we want to (sometimes we really don’t or sometimes we just cant), but He gave us this voice, something we have and get to use to declare His promises and love to this world!!!

4.

He set the standard, and the expectation!

Here is something we can learn from the life of Jesus. He was always getting away, praying, and preparing himself for what was to come. See the difference here is that He always knew what was to come or about to happen to Him, but us? We don’t know, in fact the unknown can be very scary and the very thing that can give us all the peace we need is sitting face to face to us and that is Jesus, but when we’re given the choice do we go to prayer first like He did?

“But Jesus often slipped away from them and went into the wilderness to pray.” Luke 5:16 TPT

See Jesus was so reliant on the father. Why aren’t we? What does it look and sound like to be so reliant on the father that your life will be filled back up from where you had lack?? The answer is Jesus, calling upon His name, is OUR strength. He moves the mountains. He breaks the chains. He IS peace. He mediates for us. He FIGHTS for us.

“For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,” 1 Timothy 2:5 NIV

“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” 1 Peter 3:12 ESV

We are His righteous children, let’s continue to be diligent and not miss this. He wants to take our burdens and spend time with us. He is OPEN to our prayers. It’s not a one way line of communication. He is there, ALWAYS.
