Foundation Text

Luke 6:47-49 TPT 47 Let me describe the one who truly follows me and does what I say. 48 He is like a man who chooses the right place to build a house and then lays a deep and secure foundation. When the storms and floods rage against that house, it continues to stand strong and unshaken through the tempest, for it has been wisely built on the right foundation. 49 But the one who has heard my teaching and does not obey it is like a man who builds a house without laying any foundation whatsoever. When the storms and floods rage against that house, it will immediately collapse and become a total loss. Which of these two builders will you be?”

Luke 13:3 NIV 3 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.

What Repentance is:

Regret that produces

2 Corinthians 7:10-11 NLT 10 For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death. 11 Just see what this godly sorrow produced in you! Such earnestness, such concern to clear yourselves, such indignation, such alarm, such longing to see me, such zeal, and such a readiness to punish wrong. You showed that you have done everything necessary to make things right.

from your way to God’s way

Acts 3:19 NIV 19  Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,

    closer to God.

James 4:8 NLT 8  Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.

    An process.

1 John 1:9 NIV 9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

    What True Repentance Looks Like

Matthew 3:8 NLT 8  Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God.
