My Story

In the message, Lennon said that One benefit of our world being shaken is that it exposes faith in idols.  On a lighthearted note, describe a time when you realized you could no longer believe in something that you believed in childhood (Santa, Superman, whatever). How did you come to know the truth? How did you respond?

Let’s Go Deeper

One way we can remain confident in a world that is shaking is to let God Guide us.  Read the words of David: Psalm 16:8  “I always let the Lord guide me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

What are the common ways a Christian is to seek God’s guidance? How can we use these methods to replace worry with confidence?

Read about the unshakeable peace even Jesus offered his disciples even in the face of his own crucifixion: John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or fearful. 

As clear as God’s offer of unshakeable peace is to believers, there are times when we seem as anxious as anyone. What do you think causes us to lose the unshakeable peace Jesus says he gives?

We are in the midst of an election season when many are basing their hope on the outcome of elections. Based on what you know and are learning about the Kingdom of God, how would you encourage someone who feels everything will fall apart if their candidate loses?
