CHOOSE JOY | PART 7 – THE JOY OF GENEROSITY

Acts 20:35 (NLT) You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”

Philippians 2:13 (CEV) God is working in you to make you willing and able to obey him.

Philippians 2:13 (NKJV) for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

2 Corinthians 8:12 (NIV)  For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.

“When you lose your why, you’ll lose your way”

WHY I GIVE

1.

“Because the One I’ve surrendered my life to is the One who instructs me to give.“

2.

“Because it is more blessed to give than to receive.”

3.

“I give because I’m in covenant with God and with my church.”

Covenant = When I give up my personal privileges and take on responsibilities

4.

5.

Malachi 3:10 (NLT) Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!

“I want to position myself for God’s blessing and protection.”

Deuteronomy 15:10 (NIV) – Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.

6.

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (NLT) Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”

1.   Giving.

2.  Giving.

Mark 12:41-43 (NLT) Jesus sat down near the collection box in the Temple and watched as the crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put in large amounts. Then a poor widow came and dropped in two small coins. Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions. For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.”

1 Corinthians 3:12-14 (NLT) Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials—gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. 13 But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. 14 If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward.

3.  Giving.

“Social justice without spiritual justice is not justice.”

Acts 20:35 (NIV) ’It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
