HEROES Part 7: Jesus

April 12, 2020

Matthew 28:3

His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

What are the greatest areas of stress that people experience?

Hebrews 12:1

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

Hebrews 12:2-3 MSG

Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again…

Luke 23:39-43 NIV

One of the criminals who hung there hurled insultsat him: “Aren’t you the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the othercriminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you areunder the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we aregetting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothingwrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come intoyour kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today youwill be with me in paradise.”

Isaiah 58:10

and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.

John 19:26-2

“Dear woman, here is your son… Here is your mother.”

Matthew 27:46

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

John 19:28-29

Later, knowing that all was now completed, and so that the Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.”

John 19:30

“It is finished.”

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NIV

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. Be assured, there is a purpose and an end.
