This Too

March 22, 2020

Though we never imagined where we’d be today, God’s not surprised & has always had a plan for us & will help us through This Too!

Big Thought Today: God’s not Surprised, He has a Plan

“Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. & aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 28 “Look at the lilies of the field & how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 & if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today & thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. 31 So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, & live righteously, & he will give you everything you need.”  Matthew 6:26-33

1. Refocus

Though the coronavirus caught us off guard, it didn’t catch God off guard.  He still has a plan & is asking us to stop looking at ‘everything’ that’s happening right now in the world & focus on just ‘one’ thing that’s happening, His care for a small bird.  As we look at the birds in the air & the lilies in the field, we’re assured that He will keep us & care for us with His strong hand.  Matthew 6:26-30

2. Rest

During these trying times, God will help us have real rest through His Peace. Peace comes when we Trust in Him & His word.  When we trust Him, we’re not distracted by circumstances but we’re comforted knowing that we’re in His strong tower & safe.  Matthew 6:31-32, Isaiah 26:3, Philippians 4:6-7

3. Reset

The coronavirus has shown us just how fast things can change.  Life is definitely different now but God’s call & plan is the same.  He would that NONE perish but ALL come to Him.  Though we’re quarantined, God’s power to fulfill His will isn’t!  We need to reset our thinking by adapting to the season we’re in & shine bright for Jesus today.  Matthew 6:33, John 4:35, Psalm 112:7

Next Steps

1. “What is Jesus speaking to me through this teaching today?”

2. “How can I apply this to my life?”

3. “Who can I share what I’ve learned today with?”
