The LORD’s Prayer:

…your kingdom come…

 

Jesus’ good news, then, was that the Kingdom of God had come, and that he, Jesus, was its herald and expounder to men.  More than that, in some special, mysterious way, he was the Kingdom.   Malcom Muggeridge

4.   Kingdom Expectations

 

Luke 1: 32-33.  Jesus will sit on the throne of David and reign forever.

 

 

Matthew 2:1-2  “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews?”

 

 

5.  Jesus’ teachings on the kingdom

 

Past:   The Kingdom of Heaven has always been here.

 Matthew 22:1-14    compared to a wedding feast

     

Present:  The Kingdom of Heaven is now more present, because of Jesus.

 

Matthew 4:17   “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

 

  for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.”

 

 Future:   Although it is here, it is not here in its fullness, in its totality.

 

Matthew 13:36-43. The Parable of the Weeds

Matthew 24:13-14.  The gospel of the kingdom proclaimed until the end.

Matthew 26:29. “until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”

Monday

Read Matthew 23:37-39, and Acts 1:6-7.  After hearing all of the parables of the

Kingdom, and having witnessed the resurrection of Christ, do you think that the

disciples understood what Jesus meant by the Kingdom of God? 

 

Tuesday

Read Luke 19:41-44.  Why does Jesus weep over Jerusalem?

 

 

 

 

Wednesday  

Read  Deuteronomy 17:14-19,  Deuteronomy 28:36,  Judges 17:6, and 1 Samuel 8:5.    

Was it God’s intention to give Israel a King?  Why did God allow Samuel to anoint Saul as King over Israel?

 

Thursday         

Read 1 Corinthians 15:20-28.  What things must take place before the Kingdom of God is fully realized?

 

Friday

Find three scripture versus that tell you how to enter the Kingdom of God.

 

Saturday

What does it mean to pray:  your kingdom come?  Are you ready for the kingdom to come?
