                                              Making Relationships Work    

                                                             Matt 5:21-24

Our personal are tremendously important 

was concerned about our personal relationships

21  “You have heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.’ 22  But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell. 23  “So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, 24  leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God. Matthew 5:21-24 (NLT2)

What can we learn from Jesus about relationships?

  1. Take charge of your life and your actions will take care of themselves.

       “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being”     Ephes. 3:16 (NIV) 

    Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8 (NIV) 

  1. Nip problems in the

 “So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, 24  leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God. Matthew 5:23-24 (NLT2)    

  1. Do bring that important relationship to the

    We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. Col. 1:28 (NIV) 

  1. Trust Christ to help you be at with others

    If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Romans 12:18 (NIV) 

A vibrant relationship with helps our other relationships work better too
