Big Thought Today: No Ordinary Love

“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. & I pray that you, being rooted & established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide & long & high & deep is the love of Christ, & to ‘know’ this love that ‘surpasses’ knowledge — that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”  Ephesians 3:16-19

1. Unconditional

God’s love for us is not contractual – if we meet certain terms, then He’ll love us.  God’s love is a covenant love meaning no matter what we do or don’t do, His love for us remains.  Romans 8:35-39

2. Undeserved

God’s love for us doesn’t depend on what we can bring to the table.  We’ll never have enough in & of ourselves to warrant His love.  It is because of His great love for us that we have a place at His table.  Isaiah 6:5, Isaiah 64:6, Judges 6:15, Luke 5:8, Romans 7:24, Ephesians 2:4-5

3. Good News

Because God’s love for us is unconditional & undeserving, it is incredibly Good News!  It means that in spite of my humanity & sin, He’ll accept me & make me a new creation in Him & give me a place at His side.  Because of His great love, we have Hope & a bright future!  Psalm 103:1-17
