“Hallowed be Your Name”

The Lord’s Prayer

Matthew 6:9-15

 

 

“Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

10 your kingdom come,

your will be done,

    on earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us today our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts,

    as we also have forgiven our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation,

    but deliver us from the evil one.”    Matthew 6:9-13

 

 

Once we know who we’re talking to, “Our Father in heaven,” the first petition is the phrase, “Hallowed be Your name.”Hallowed is from the Old English and doesn’t have a great modern-day equivalent, but is the idea of ‘treating as sacred and ultimate, the most important thing.’ 

 

To hallow something is to treat it as .

2. Praise comes first – before

Read Matthew 6:5-15 and Revelation 4:11.  Attempt to express in words how you view the wonder and the power of God.  How do those thoughts impact the way you worship Him? 

 

 

 

We don’t think we should be terrified of God; we only want to think about His loving nature.  When anyone gets a glimpse of Almighty God, what happens?  See Matthew 17:5, 6.
