E3 | Why Do We Evangelize?

Luke 15:8-10 (CSB)

Or what woman who has ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? When she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, “Rejoice with me, because I have found the silver coin I lost!” I tell you, in the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels over one sinner who repents.

EVANGELISM- Peacemakers sharing the Gospel with the distressed and dejected.

What is the Gospel? 

• Jesus died for our sins.
• Jesus was buried.
• Jesus was raised on the third day. 

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (CSB)

For I passed on to you as most important what I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…

WHY DO WE EVANGELIZE?

#1- PEOPLE ARE READY TO RECEIVE THE GOSPEL

Matthew 9: 36-38(CSB)

When he saw the crowds, he felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dejected, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.”

Distressed and Dejected:

Distressed- to give one’s self trouble.

Dejected- overwhelmed by life.

#2- WE ARE PEACEMAKERS

2 Corinthians 5:18 (CSB)

Everything is from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.

#3- JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY TO SALVATION

Acts 4:12(CSB)

There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.

#4- SO PEOPLE WON’T GO TO HELL

John 3:16-18 (CSB)

For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Anyone who believes in him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God. 

2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 (CSB)

This will take place at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his powerful angels, when he takes vengeance with flaming fire on those who don’t know God and on those who don’t obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will pay the penalty of eternal destruction from the Lord’s presence and from his glorious strength on that day when he comes to be glorified by his saints and to be marveled at by all those who have believed, because our testimony among you was believed. 

#5 WE WANT JESUS TO RETURN

Matthew 24:14 (CSB)

The good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. 

#6 THE GOSPEL CHANGES EVERYTHING!

2 Corinthians 5:17 (CSB)

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new one has come!
