Beyond the Walls: Our Motive for Missions

Mission Vision for 2022

Sunday, March 6, 2022

We call our mission’s ministry here at PAG “Beyond the Walls”. The early church showed us the model to follow. Preach the good news everywhere you go and when you cannot go, send. They also met the needs of their neighbors and did what Jesus commanded in…

Main Text: Matthew 25: 34-40 ESV. “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

BTW is About:

  • Sending the called when we ourselves cannot go.
  • Funding projects to serve those in need and reach the lost.
  • Local Benevolence.
  • Coordinating spirit led mission trips.

So if this is what we do, an important question to ask is why do we do it?

1 John 4:16 ESV “So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.”

  • In 1914, the Assemblies of God was formed in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Leaders of our movement had an immediate concern for the lost, compelling them to take the gospel into all the world. This small group of people committed themselves to “the greatest evangelism the world has ever seen.”

What does John mean in verse 16? Who is he describing?

Take Away: Missions is the fruit of being loved by God so much, we cannot keep it to ourselves.

Our missions giving should not alone be because it is our culture, or that we are moved through compliance to the Great Commission. On the contrary, it is motivated by the love we experience with God, from God.
