The Gospel of Mark | What Did You Hear?
Mark 4:33-34

Mark 4:33-34 (NKJV)And with many such parables He spoke the word to them as they were able to hear it. 34 But without a parable He did not speak to them. And when they were alone, He explained all things to His disciples.”

“…the devil wants to learn from your mistakes, even if you don’t.”

When God makes himself and His truth known to us we understand it to be revelation.

Deuteronomy 29:29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”

The main purpose of the parable was to enlighten.

To expose unbelief to those who reject the truth of the good news.

To expose the hardened hearts of those who just didn’t want to believe.

Parables present two  opposing works in the Kingdom of God: revelation and concealment.

Mark 4:3-8 (NKJV) “Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And it happened, as he sowed, that some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds of the air came and devoured it. 5 Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away. 7 And some seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no crop. 8 But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”

Mark 4:9 (NKJV) “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

Mark 4:10-12 (NKJV) “To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables, 12 so that ‘Seeing they may see and not perceive, And hearing they may hear and not understand; Lest they should turn, And their sins be forgiven them.’ ”

What did you hear?

What are you hearing with?

How are you hearing?

Why are you listening?

Challenge your heart with a hearing test.
