“Magnify The Lord” – Luke 1:46-55
Luke 1:46-55 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy; As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.
Luke 1:46b-47 My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
I. The of God
The depth of your joy this season is connected to the degree of your understanding of the meaning of it all.
Ephesians 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.
Before the world was ever created, God saw you, loved you, knew of your need for Him, and determined to come for you.
The message of Christmas is this: God became man so that mankind could have a relationship with Him.
II. The of God
Luke 1:49 For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: And the government shall be upon his shoulder: And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Not only can God provide the forgiveness of sins and assure us of a home in Heaven, but He can enable us to fulfill all the roles in our lives.
III. The of God
Luke 1:50 And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.
Luke 1:54 He hath helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;
Luke 1:47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
We are all “lost” without Jesus.
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Even though we are imperfect, Jesus died for us because of His love.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
We give and receive gifts at Christmas to remember the great “gift” that Jesus provided for us. His “gift” to us is “eternal life.”
Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Lamentations 3:22-23 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
