DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. What’s one of your favorite short stories? (children’s book, joke, myth, parable, etc …). Share it!
  2. In Mark 12, Jesus tells a short story to speak directly to the religious leaders of the day. Read Mark 12:1-12. What’s your takeaway from the Scripture or what questions do you have?
  3. Jesus comes off as pretty condemning towards church leaders in Mark chapters 11 and 12. Have 3 readers take turns reading (1) Mark 11:15-17; (2) Mark 12:9-12; and (3) Mark 12:38-40. Why do you think Jesus was so condemning towards the church leadership of His day?
  4. In Mark 12:12, the religious leaders perceive that Jesus’ parable spoke to them directly. Have you ever read or heard Scripture and it was like God was speaking to you directly? If so, share your experience.
  5. Read Romans 15:4. In your opinion, is reading God’s Word regularly on your own important? Why/why not?
  6. How are you challenged to live differently in response to the Scripture of Mark 12:1-12?
  7. Partner up. Pray for one another.
