Crisis Management 101

James 5:7-20 (NIV)

How do we manage crises in our life?

The truth is all of us are either managing a crisis or will be soon. 

Soren Kierkegaard said, “Anxiety is the dizziness of freedom. So many choices but how to make the right choices.”

James 5:7-9

The word patient in this context means being patient with people. It means to stay put and stand fast when you want to run away.

James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

Remember, there is a process God is working out in our lives through each season. If we grow impatient we will become discouraged and will start taking it out on people.

James 5:10-11

If you are ready to give up on God, to throw in the towel, you need to know that your greatest blessing may be right around the corner. But you must not give up.

James 5:12 

James learned from his big brother Jesus that the best thing to do is avoid oaths or swearing by something.

Matthew 5:37 “All you need to say is simply yes or no; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.”

Peter swore he would not deny Jesus but he did!

In a crisis we are tempted to bargain with God. God, if you will get me out of this situation I swear I will… Fill in the blank

4. Pray through your .

James 5:13-18

Are you in trouble? Most people don’t have a problem praying when they are in trouble.

Are you happy? Don’t forget God and sing praises.

Are you sick? Ask for the leaders of the church or go to someone who you know has great faith. 

Have you confessed your sins to someone? This is where LIFE GROUPS are helpful. Confession is good for the soul. 

5. Keep tabs on the

James 5:19-20

Vs 20, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover up a multitude of sins.
