Is God in Control?

Trusting God is  

Our trust of God is based on who He

Three foundational theological pillars that undergird our trust in God:

  • God is completely Sovereign
  • God is infinite in Wisdom
  • God is perfect in Love

If God gives up his complete control at times — how do we know that he isn’t looking the other way at times in our life? 

there are no things in which God’s fingerprints are !

What God does is a to us

David was satisfied with the divine “NO” and began to worship — he didn’t complain and wallow in self-pity but worshiped. 

“If we understand the providence of God and love the God of providence, we are able to worship him with the sacrifice of praise he inherently deserves when things occur that bring pain, sorrow, and affliction into our lives.” RC Sproul 

What is Providence?

“Divine providence is the governance of God by which He, with wisdom and love, cares for and directs all things in the universe.” GotQuestions.org

The word Providence is multifaceted and includes a wide range of divine

  • God’s Provision

        God is the ultimate provider

Matthew 6:25-34

We are not to worry but trust the God who

  • Divine Sustenance 

         What is required to keep things going (like food in our case)

         God governs or upholds or keeps all things — he sustains — he is what is required to keep things           going!

  • For what reason does God uphold all things? Answer: The possible good!

      Ephesians 1:11-13

       “To the praise of His glory”

Sproul: For the creature, God-centeredness is a virtue and self-centeredness is a vice. For God Self-centeredness is a pure virtue because it is God-centeredness. 

What is the highest possible good?
