How To Keep Going When You Wanna Quit

Jeremiah 20:9  I will not mention him [God] or speak any more in his name.

  • 20:9b “His word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in, indeed I cannot”

Burnout is only permanent if you allow it to be.

I Kings 19:1-7

1 When Ahab got home, he told Jezebel everything Elijah had done, including the way he had killed all the prophets of Baal. 2 So Jezebel sent this message to Elijah: “May the gods strike me and even kill me if by this time tomorrow I have not killed you just as you killed them.” 3 Elijah was afraid and RAN for his life. He went to Beersheba, a town in Judah, and he left his servant there. 4 Then he went on alone into the wilderness, traveling all day. He sat down under a solitary broom tree and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, LORD,” he said. “Take my life, for I am no better than my ancestors who have already died.” 5 Then he lay down and slept under the broom tree. But as he was sleeping, an angel touched him and told him, “Get up and eat!” 6 He looked around and there beside his head was some bread baked on hot stones and a jar of water! So he ate and drank and lay down again. 7 Then the angel of the LORD came again and touched him and said, “Get up and eat some more, or the journey ahead will be too much for you.”

If the devil can’t get YOU directly, he will work through someone who is close to you….

2 Corinthians 4:1  Therefore, since God in his mercy has given us this ministry, we never quit (give up).

1. When your FAITH falls short, let Trust catch you.

2 Corinthians 4:16   That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.

2. Let the Holy Spirit refresh you and renew you through worship.

Acts 3:19. Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out.  Then times of refreshing will come from the presence of the Lord,

3. Remember God has your back and He will NEVER FORSAKE YOU.

Discussion Questions:

1.) What are one or two takeaways from today’s message?

2.) Thinking back, has there been a time when, although you may not have realized it, God was giving you rest during a difficult season?

3.) How has God helped you during a season where your faith may have fallen short, but you had to let trust catch you?
