Problems are produced when we don’t listen.

The opposite of listening is not the act of speaking but waiting to speak.

Dave Ferguson “When we don’t listen, people not only feel unheard, but begin to feel unknown.”

You never feel valued when you feel that no one is listening.

Luke 18:35-40a As Jesus came near Jericho, a blind man was sitting and begging by the road. 36 When he heard the crowd going by, he tried to find out what was happening. 37 The people told him that Jesus from Nazareth was passing by. 38 Then the blind man shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 39 The people at the front of the crowd told the blind man to be quiet. But he shouted even louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 40 Jesus stopped and ordered them to bring the man to him. (GW).

Luke 18:40b-43 When the man came near, Jesus asked him, 41 “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man said, “Lord, I want to see again.” 42 Jesus told him, “Receive your sight! Your faith has made you well.” 43 Immediately, he could see again. He followed Jesus and praised God. All the people saw this, and they, too, praised God. (GW).

“What do you want me to do for you?”

Don’t assume you know what people need.

Living a life that blesses others like Jesus did isn’t mostly about the magnificent events.

Dr. Rene Laennec “If you use this tool, don’t stop listening to your patients – they will still tell you how to heal them.”

Habit #5: “Seek first to understand before seeking to be understood.” Stephen Covey

Proverbs 18:13 “It’s stupid and embarrassing to give an answer before you listen” (CEV).
