 Jesus is… The Lamb

“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” ― A.W. Tozer

(1 Corinthians 2:1-2 Message) “You’ll remember, friends, that when I first came to you, I didn’t try to impress you with polished speeches and the latest philosophy. I deliberately kept it plain and simple: first Jesus and who he is; then Jesus and what he did–Jesus crucified.”

(John 1:29 NIV) The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

1. The Lamb was .

(Exodus 12:5 NIV) “The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, andyou may take them from the sheep or the goats.”

(1 Peter 1:18-19 NIV) “You were redeemed… with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”

2. The Lamb was .

(Exodus 12:6 NIV) “Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the people of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight.”

(Exodus 29:38-39 NIV) “This is what you are to offer on the altar regularly each day: two lambs a year old. Offer one in the morning and the other at twilight.”

(Hebrews 10:10-18 NIV) “And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool. 14 For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. 15 The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says: 16 “This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds. 17 Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”

3. The Lamb was .

(Exodus 12:4 NIV) If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one withtheir nearest neighbor.

(2 Corinthians 5:19 NIV) God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

Our Opportunity

1.

(1 Corinthians 4:4 NIV) “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”

2.

(Romans 10:13-14 LB) “Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But who can ask them to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And  how can they hear about him unless someone tells him?”

3.

(Revelation 5:12 NIV) In a loud voice they sang: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”
