    Pressure Points: Psalm 2

    Sunday, August 1, 2021

    Pastor Mike Bailey

    Introduction

Pressure points are located all over our bodies. There are hundreds of them, and each time pressure is applied to a pressure point it pinches nerves or disrupts a normal operation of the body. When a nerve is pinched against a bone or muscle it shoots an electrical signal of pain to the brain. Pain is the reaction from the pressure to warn people that damage may occur if the pressure is not removed. The author of the Psalms had the same goal when writing. He wanted those who read the warnings to feel the pressure, to understand the limits, and show us how to release and remove from our lives the negative things that cause pain. Pressure Points applied in the Psalms mold us to become better when we heed the warnings.

    1. Mankind is by pride. (2:1-3)

Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall. Proverbs 16:18

    a. We can’t see .

Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. 2 Corinthians 4:4

    b. We can’t see .

For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.  John 8:44

    Notes:

    2. God is not shaken by . (2:4-6)

    a. He at our vain efforts.

Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Galatians 6:7

    b. He all sin and rebellion.

I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference. Revelation 3:19

    c. He has already the victory.

And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. Philippians 1:6

    Notes:

    3. Jesus is the . (2:7-9)

For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16

    a. He is the of God.

And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” Matthew 3:17

     b. He is the future of earth.

Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices shouting in heaven: “The world has now become the Kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever.” Revelation 11:15

    c. He has beyond our understanding.

How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension! Psalm 147:5

    Notes:

    4. Now we must . (2:10-12)

So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:6-7

    a. Act with .

So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Ephesians 5:15-17

    b. Get up and .

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ. Colossians 3:23-24

    c. Choose today who you will

“But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve…” Joshua 24:15a

    Notes:

    5. Who is in of you?

    a. Take the time now to .

Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. 1 Peter 2:16 (ESV)

    b. Make the decision to and .

    Notes:

Closing: Your future can be in your hands or in God’s hands. Who will you follow today?
