I Believe…“Suffered under Pontius Pilate, was Crucified, Died, and was Buried”

                                                John 19:18-22      Isaiah 53:5-6    

We are celebrating our as Americans       

We are celebrating our freedoms in

           “if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”  John 8:36 (NIV)

The Apostles’ creed is a summary statement of what the earliest Apostles’

In Jesus Christ, God miraculously stepped into our world

           Jesus is fully and fully

          There is a direct between the manger and the cross

“He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, and was buried.”

            Why did Jesus have to ?

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. Isaiah 55:8 (NIV)

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4  that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (NIV)

The punishment for sin is

  For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 (NIV)
Our salvation required an sacrifice

  God made him (Christ) who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV)

The prophets Jesus’ death                             Isaiah 53

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. 6  We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.    Isaiah 53:5-6  (NIV)

 After the suffering of his soul, he will see the light [of life] and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. Isaiah 53:11 (NIV)

            Jesus is the Lamb of God who has come to take the sin of the world
