Defeating the Giant of Bad Decisions

July 11, 2021 / Jared Douglas

If We Are Going To Bounce Back From Our Bad Decisions We Must:

1. Take Responsibility for Them.

“They were terrified and asked, “What have you done?” (They knew he was running away from the Lord, because he had already told them so.) The sea was getting rougher and rougher. So they asked him, “What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?” “Pick me up and throw me into the sea,” he replied, “and it will become calm. I know that it is my fault that this great storm has come upon you.”   Jonah 1:10-12

“Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.”                Proverbs 28:13

2. Repent of them by turning from them.

“When my life was ebbing away, I remembered you, Lord, and my prayer rose to you, to your holy temple. “Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them. But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord.”
Jonah 2:7-9

“ Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”      Acts 3:19

3. Embrace God’s Grace.

“And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land. Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time: “Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you.” Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord and went to Nineveh.”
Jonah 2:10 – 3:3

“ Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”      Acts 3:19

When you embrace God’s grace:

  • Don’t let your bad decisions Define

  • Don’t let your bad decisions Disqualify
