Sermon Overview

June 27, 2021 / John Howell Jr.

We are living in a time of rapid change, and the church has been greatly impacted by worldly and humanistic philosophies. One change that is sweeping the church is so-called “Woke” theology. This trend embraces false teaching the gospel is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ plus holding a politically correct view on the social and racial issues of our day. This teaching goes against the Bible’s consistent teaching that, when it comes to the issue of race or nationality, “there is no partiality with God” (Rom. 2:11). Of course, this false teaching is also a departure from the Biblical truth that salvation comes by God’s grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. Beware of “woke” theology!

However, the modern church is asleep on some critical truths in God’s Word, and we do need to preach those truths and to wake up! Sunday’s message will focus on being “Woke to the Doctrine That No One Wants to Deal With.” Your outline will be available in the bulletin.
