Prayer, Fasting and Bended Knees

June 16, 2021

“So He said to them, ‘This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.’” (Mark 9:29 NKJ)

When we want to see the sick healed we need to

“‘You unbelieving generation,’ Jesus replied. ‘how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to Me.’” We must get our prayers from “If You can Jesus?” to “Yes you can Jesus!” “‘But if You can do anything, take pity on us and help us.’ ‘If You can?’ said Jesus. ‘Everything is possible for the one who believes.’” (Mark 9:22-23)

Even if we do believe, we may need God to help us overcome our unbelief.

“I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24)

“The law of prayer is the law of harvest: sow sparingly in prayer, reap sparingly; sow bountifully in prayer, reap

bountifully. The trouble is we are trying to get from our efforts what we never put into them.” Leonard Ravenhill

Prayers for bended knees.

“Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy, for in You my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of Your wings until the danger has passed.” (Ps. 57:1)

“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Ps. 139:23-24)

“Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for You are the one I praise.”  (Jer. 17:14)

“Lord, the God of Israel, there is no God like You in heaven above or the earth below – You who keeps Your covenant of love with Your servants who continue wholeheartedly in Your way.”

“Give ear, our God and hear; open Your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears Your Name. We do not make requests of You because we are righteous, but because of Your great mercy. Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For Your sake, my God, do not delay, because Your city and Your people bear Your Name.” (Dan. 9:18-19)

“This is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” (Matt. 6:9-13 NIV)
