It’s The Principles For Me
Week 10: How To Have A Teachable Spirit
Proverbs 12:1 NKJV
“Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, But he who hates correction is stupid.”
Proverbs 12:1 TPT
“To learn the truth you must long to be teachable, or you can despise correction and remain ignorant.”
Today, the truth is twisted and turned to fit our life.
We take our opinions today and make them truth.
Our opinions have kept us bound and from experiencing true freedom.
God desires for us to be free.
In order to be free, we must have a teachable spirit.
How Do We Have A Teachable Spirit?
Proverbs 12:15 TPT
“A fool is in love with his own opinion, but wisdom means being teachable.”
Proverbs 16:2 TPT
“We are all in love with our own opinions, convinced they’re correct. But the Lord is in the midst of us, testing and probing our every motive.”
If your truth manipulates others, it is not truth.
The Pharisees were in love with their own opinion and it limited them from receiving the truth from Christ.
If you are in love with your own opinion, it is hard for you to be teachable!
Proverbs 9:8 TPT
“So don’t even bother to correct a mocker, for he’ll only hate you for it. But go ahead and correct the wise; they’ll love you even more.”
When you are so in love with your own opinion, it can cause you to bring destruction upon your life!
Proverbs 13:13 TPT
“Despise the word, will you? Then you’ll pay the price and it won’t be pretty! But the one who honors the Father’s holy instructions will be rewarded.”
In order for us to be teachable, we must relinquish our own opinions.
How do we relinquish our own opinions?
Proverbs 3:5 TPT
“Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make.”
Give up the idea of
Proverbs 12:23 TPT
“Those who possess wisdom don’t feel the need to impress others with what they know, but foolish ones make sure their ignorance is on display.”
Trying to impress others speaks to our immaturity
Being an influence speaks to our maturity.
When are attempt to impress others, we take the glory from God to us.
Wisdom is an influence in our lives.
Matthew 5:16 TPT
So don’t hide your light![b] Let it shine brightly before others, so that your commendable works[c] will shine as light upon them, and then they will give their praise to your Father in heaven.”
When you have a teachable spirit, you become an influence.
When you don’t have a teachable spirit, you become one who wants to impress others.
Be Hungry
Proverbs 18:15 TPT
“The spiritually hungry are always ready to learn more, for their hearts are eager to discover new truths.”
Good desires for us to dive fully into who he is!
Spiritual growth does not only reveal who God is, it reveals who you are!
Are you eager to learn?
Are you eager to discover new truths?
When you discover new truth, you discover life!
A fruitful life requires you to have a teachable spirit.
A seed has to be disciplined to turn into a tree!
Psalms 25:4-9 TPT

even when they go astray.
