We are glad you are here!

______ is my Shepherd

May 9, 2021

Psalm 23:1-4  1 A psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need. 2 He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. 3 He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. 4 Even when I walk through the darkest valley,* I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.

One of the greatest lessons moms, and dads, can teach their children:  God is enough.

__________________ is my shepherd.

What would you fill in that blank with?

The Lord IS MY SHEPHERD:
   IS – stating a matter of fact
   MY – personal
   SHEPHERD – my guide, my protector, my provider

Sheep follow their shepherd
   Follow = Obey (John 14:15, John 14:21, 1 John 5:3)

How often do we ask for God to reveal Himself to us?

Step 1 to hearing from God – Obey Him.

Shall not want = shall want not = lack nothing

Same word (Deuteronomy 2:7, Deuteronomy 8:9, Nehemiah 9:21)

God has already given us everything. (John 3:16, 2 Peter 1:3)

Pastures = rest (Matthew 11:28)

Still waters = peace (Philippians 4:6-7)

Restore = make us new (Matthew 22:37, Lamentations 3:22-23)

How?
   His Word (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
   Righteousness – holiness (Matthew 16:25-26)

What path are you on? (Matthew 7:13-14)

Why does He do this?  For HIS glory! (Matthew 5:16)

God is with you (Matthew 28:20, 1 Peter 5:10)

Rod and staff – What is the difference?

Rod – correction; discipline
Staff – direction; protection

Correction, direction, and protection

Correction precedes direction and protection.

Discipline brings comfort.

Deuteronomy 8, Psalm 20:7, Joshua 24:15
